• Sort and segregate coin blanks, rejected coins, and scrap metal by type and size as instructed by the section supervisor, placing materials in designated bins for processing or disposal.
• Follow verbal and written work instructions from supervisors and Skilled Grade workers, asking for clarification when uncertain to prevent errors, material damage, or safety incidents.
• Assist in unloading incoming material deliveries, stacking materials in designated storage locations, and participating in routine physical stock counts within the production stores area.
• Comply fully with all personal protective equipment requirements, workplace safety rules, and Mint-specific operational procedures applicable to the semi-skilled work level at all times.

Lab Attendant Grade III

Job Responsibilities

• Assist laboratory technicians and chemists in the Pakistan Mint’s assay laboratory by preparing and handling metal samples, coin specimens, and alloy test pieces submitted for chemical or physical testing.
• Clean, rinse, and maintain laboratory glassware, crucibles, chemical vessels, and testing equipment after each use, ensuring they are ready and contaminant-free for subsequent testing sessions.
• Fetch, transport, and deliver test samples, chemical reagents, and laboratory supplies between the production floor, stores, and assay laboratory as directed by laboratory staff.
• Assist in preparing solutions, reagents, and acid baths used for fire assay, wet chemical analysis, and spectrometric testing of precious metal and base metal alloys at the Mint laboratory.
• Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the assay laboratory workspace, ensuring proper storage of chemicals, labeling of reagents, and disposal of waste materials in compliance with chemical safety procedures.
• Operate and clean laboratory support equipment including balances, furnaces, drying ovens, and fume cupboards under the guidance of laboratory technicians, reporting any malfunction immediately.
• Record sample identification numbers, test batch details, and basic laboratory logistics data in the laboratory register as instructed by the supervising technician or chemist.
• Follow all chemical safety regulations applicable to laboratory work including use of PPE (gloves, goggles, lab coat), correct acid handling procedures, and emergency first aid protocols for chemical exposure.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Matric (preferably with Science subjects) — as per BPS-03 criteria for Lab Attendant.
• Experience: As per Pakistan Mint / NJP eligibility criteria for this grade; prior laboratory assistant experience is an advantage.
