Job Responsibilities

• Diagnose, trace, and repair faults in the electrical systems of heavy military and administrative vehicles including starter motors, alternators, batteries, ignition systems, lighting circuits, and instrument panels.
• Read and interpret vehicle wiring diagrams and electrical schematics to identify fault locations accurately, using standard electrical testing instruments including multimeters, battery testers, and circuit probes.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on vehicle electrical components as per EME’s maintenance schedules, replacing worn components before failure to maintain fleet operational readiness.
• Overhaul, rewind, and bench-test starter motors, alternators, and generators in the electrical workshop, documenting component condition and work performed in the unit’s maintenance records.
• Assist in maintaining the electrical workshop’s inventory of spare parts, consumables, and testing equipment, raising indent requests when stock reaches minimum levels.
• Support the vehicle inspection team during pre-movement and periodic technical inspections, certifying the electrical serviceability of vehicles before their deployment or release from workshop.
• Comply with Army workshop safety regulations at all times, including the use of PPE, proper handling of vehicle batteries, and safe working procedures around live electrical circuits.
• Participate in Army-directed training exercises, technical skill development sessions, and any in-service trade test preparations as directed by the workshop officer or JCO in charge.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Intermediate (FA/FSc or equivalent) from a recognized board.
• Diploma: 3-year Diploma in Auto Electrician from a recognized technical/vocational board.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of practical experience as an auto electrician; experience with heavy vehicles strongly preferred.

Job Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical inspection, diagnosis, and repair of engine, transmission, steering, suspension, braking, and drivetrain systems on military and administrative vehicles assigned to 55 EME Battalion’s vehicle fleet.
• Perform scheduled first, second, and third-line servicing of military vehicles as per EME maintenance tables, recording all work in the vehicle’s log book and workshop job cards accurately.
• Disassemble, inspect, recondition, and reassemble major mechanical assemblies including engines, gearboxes, differentials, and axle components using correct tools and torque specifications.
• Conduct road tests and post-repair inspections to verify that vehicle mechanical systems are operating correctly before certifying vehicles as serviceable for field or road use.
• Assist in the recovery and towing of unserviceable vehicles from field locations to the workshop, using recovery vehicles and equipment under the supervision of the recovery NCO or officer.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop bay, tools, and equipment, ensuring all special tools and measuring instruments are calibrated, serviceable, and accounted for after each job.
• Raise part demands and technical reports for vehicles requiring specialized workshop repair beyond the battalion’s capability, supporting the process of evacuating vehicles to higher-echelon workshops.

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults in electronic systems and sub-assemblies across all electronics disciplines relevant to the EME workshop including communication equipment, sensors, control units, and digital systems.
• Use electronic testing and measurement instruments including oscilloscopes, signal generators, logic analyzers, and digital multimeters to accurately identify faults at component level in electronic circuits.
• Perform component-level repair of PCBs, replacing defective resistors, capacitors, transistors, ICs, and other electronic parts using soldering equipment and following ESD safety procedures.
• Conduct functional testing of repaired electronic assemblies to verify restoration of correct performance before returning to service or escalating to higher-echelon repair workshops.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist senior mechanics in carrying out routine vehicle servicing, oil and filter changes, tyre rotation, and basic mechanical inspections on military and administrative vehicles at the battalion workshop.

• Support the preparation, packaging, and documentation of electronic assemblies being sent to higher-echelon repair workshops, ensuring correct labelling, fault descriptions, and part numbers are recorded.
• Assist in maintaining the electronics workshop’s stores by counting, labelling, and organizing spare electronic components, and supporting the quarterly stock-taking exercises.
• Learn and develop electronics repair skills through structured on-the-job training, apprenticeship under senior technicians, and participation in any EME-directed technical trade training courses.
