The last date to submit both the online application and the hard copy for all 12 positions at the Aquaculture Business Hub is 18 June 2026 (Thursday), during office hours. Both the online submission at jobs.punjab.gov.pk and the physical hard copy to the Director General Fisheries Punjab office at 9-A Bahawalpur Road, Chuburji, Lahore must be completed by this date. Incomplete applications (online only or hard copy only) will not be considered.
Q: What is the Aquaculture Business Hub Project and where are the hubs located?
The Aquaculture Business Hub is a Government of Punjab initiative under the Aquaculture & Fisheries Department to develop state-of-the-art aquaculture production facilities with integrated hatcheries, feed mills, research and training functions, and grow-out systems across Punjab. The project runs through December 2027. The main hubs are in Lahore (PMU and R&T hubs), with additional site support positions in Sheikhupura, Khanewal, and Sargodha. The project aims to modernize Punjab’s fisheries sector and increase fish production for food security and export.
Q: Is Punjab domicile mandatory for all Aquaculture Business Hub positions?
Yes, Punjab domicile is mandatory for all 12 positions in the Aquaculture Business Hub project. Candidates from other provinces are not eligible to apply. Additionally, candidates applying for Sub Engineer positions are expected to be from the respective district or surrounding area, though this is a preference rather than a strict restriction. All candidates must submit an attested copy of their Punjab domicile certificate with their hard copy application.
Q: What is PPS (Project Pay Scale) and how does it differ from regular BPS?
PPS (Project Pay Scale) is a fixed lump-sum monthly salary used for contract positions in government development projects. Unlike BPS (Basic Pay Scale) which has grade-based increments and is tied to permanent civil service, PPS positions are contract-based with a set monthly amount. The Aquaculture Business Hub PPS positions offer Rs. 300,000/month (PPS-8), Rs. 200,000/month (PPS-7), and Rs. 150,000/month (PPS-6). These contracts do not confer any rights to permanent government employment but include annual increments as per approved project criteria.
Q: What qualifications does the Senior Aquaculturist need and how much experience is required?
The Senior Aquaculturist position requires a PhD, M.Phil, M.Sc, or BS in Zoology, Fisheries and Aquaculture from an HEC-recognized university. The experience requirement varies by education level: PhD holders need a minimum of 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience, while candidates with M.Phil, M.Sc, or BS degrees require 8 years of experience in applied fisheries and aquaculture. The experience must be in practical aquaculture work — academic-only experience without field application may not be sufficient.
Q: Do government employees need an NOC to apply for Aquaculture Business Hub positions?
Yes. Government employees (both Punjab and other provincial/federal government servants) must obtain or apply for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) or Departmental Permission Certificate (DPC) from their parent department before applying. They are not required to submit the NOC with the initial application but must present it at the interview stage. Government employees who appear at interview without a valid NOC/DPC may be disqualified from the selection process.
Q: What is the age relaxation policy for Punjab Fisheries Aquaculture Hub jobs 2026?
Age relaxation is provided as per the Government of Punjab, S&GAD notification: male candidates receive 5 years of age relaxation on top of the stated maximum age limit, and female candidates receive 8 years of relaxation. For example, for the Senior Aquaculturist position with a maximum age of 40 years, male candidates can be up to 45 years old and female candidates up to 48 years old. Similar relaxation applies to all positions, making the effective maximum age 40+5=45 (male) or 40+8=48 (female) for PPS-7/8 positions and 35+5=40 (male) or 35+8=43 (female) for Sub Engineer positions.
Q: What experience is required for the Deputy Manager Hatchery and Feed Mill positions?
Both Deputy Manager Hatchery and Deputy Manager Feed Mill positions require a B.Sc. or BE in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering (or processing plant-related discipline) from an HEC-recognized university, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience. For the Hatchery position, experience in aquaculture or water treatment plant mechanical systems, recirculating systems, or similar industrial process equipment is particularly relevant. For the Feed Mill position, experience in feed manufacturing, processing plant operations, or food industry machinery is most directly applicable.
People Also Ask
Q: What is the total number of vacancies in Punjab Fisheries Aquaculture Hub 2026?
The Aquaculture & Fisheries Department Punjab is hiring a total of 12 positions across two pay scale tiers. PPS-8 positions (Rs. 300,000/month) include 3 Deputy Managers (General, Hatchery, Feed Mill) and 1 Senior Aquaculturist. PPS-7 positions (Rs. 200,000/month) include 2 Documentation Officers, 1 Assistant Manager Networks & Systems, and 1 Junior Scientist/Equipment Expert. PPS-6 positions (Rs. 150,000/month) include 4 Sub Engineers deployed one each in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Khanewal, and Sargodha.
Q: What is the difference between PMU and R&T Aqua Hub in this project?
The PMU (Project Management Unit) Aqua Hub is the administrative and operational management centre of the Aquaculture Business Hub project, responsible for overall project coordination, procurement, finance, and operational management of the hatchery and feed mill. The R&T (Research and Training) Aqua Hub is the scientific and technical arm of the project, focused on aquaculture research, farmer training programs, scientific data collection, equipment management, and technical development activities. Several positions are specifically assigned to one or the other, while the Documentation Officer has one post at each hub.
Q: What does an aquaculturist do and why is this role important for Punjab?
An aquaculturist is a specialist in the science and technology of fish and aquatic organism farming. In the context of the Aquaculture Business Hub, the Senior Aquaculturist leads research on fish breeding and production optimization, manages hatchery operations, and trains farmers and extension workers on modern aquaculture methods. This role is critical for Punjab because the province has significant potential to expand fish production — from freshwater species like rohu, catla, and tilapia — to meet domestic food demand, reduce import costs, and develop fish export revenue as a new agricultural commodity.
Q: Can I apply for multiple positions in the Punjab Fisheries Aquaculture Hub 2026?
Yes, you may apply for multiple positions if you meet the eligibility criteria for each, but you must submit a completely separate application for each post — both a separate online form and a separate hard copy package sent to the Director General Fisheries Punjab. Each envelope and application must clearly state the name of the post being applied for. Submitting a single application for multiple posts will not be accepted. The selection committee will shortlist independently for each position.
Q: What types of fisheries and aquaculture species are relevant for the Senior Aquaculturist position in Punjab?
Punjab’s aquaculture sector primarily focuses on freshwater fish species including major carps (rohu, catla, mrigal), grass carp, silver carp, and increasingly tilapia and catfish for commercial production. The Aquaculture Business Hub is likely to work with these commercially important species as well as potentially exploring ornamental fish and high-value aquaculture species. Candidates with research or hatchery management experience involving these species — particularly induced breeding, larval rearing, and grow-out system management — will be most competitive for the Senior Aquaculturist role.
Q: What is the contract duration for Aquaculture Business Hub positions and can it be extended?
All positions are on a contract basis under the Project Pay Scale (PPS) and are extendable up to the gestation period of the Aquaculture Business Hub project, which runs to December 2027. Annual increments are provided as per the approved project criteria. The contract does not confer any rights to permanent appointment in government service. Extension of the contract beyond the initial period depends on project requirements, budget availability, and satisfactory performance review by the project management team and Fisheries Department.
