Job Responsibilities

  • Examine, analyze, and prepare legal opinions on matters referred by various government departments, the AJK Cabinet Division, and the Legislative Assembly Secretariat in accordance with applicable AJK laws and regulations.
  • Draft legislation, statutory instruments, ordinances, rules, and notifications for review by the Law Secretary and senior officers before submission to the AJK Cabinet or Legislative Assembly.
  • Coordinate legal cases involving the Government of AJK before the High Court of AJK, Supreme Court of Pakistan, and other judicial forums by liaising with the Advocate General’s office and government counsel.
  • Maintain and manage legal files, correspondence registers, and departmental records pertaining to court proceedings, legislation, and inter-departmental legal references.
  • Research applicable case law, statutory provisions, and legal precedents to support the department’s positions on ongoing legal matters and policy questions.
