Job Summary
As the leader of the Technology and Operations (T&O) agenda in Pakistan, you’ll drive a unified “One Bank” strategy, aligning business and functional teams while collaborating closely with the Cluster T&O Management Team, Country Management Team, Group T&O leadership, and key stakeholders. You’ll serve as the primary point of contact for regulators on T&O matters, ensuring compliance and effective communication.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

• Partner with the Country CEO to shape and refine the country’s strategic vision.
• Align local T&O strategies with group-level goals, ensuring country-specific needs are reflected in broader plans.
• Oversee the execution of T&O service delivery strategies in collaboration with the Country CEO, business heads, and functional leaders.
• Lead key country initiatives and projects, including acquisitions, divestitures, and regulatory efforts, acting as a regulatory liaison when needed.
• Work with the Country CEO to identify and drive initiatives that grow the business and boost operational efficiency.
• Champion innovation and transformation to position the bank as a leading digital player, adopting scaled agile delivery to meet outcome-driven goals (OKRs/KPIs) and enhance customer experience.
• Streamline processes, improve productivity, and strengthen controls by leveraging technology.
• Play a key role in strategic investment decisions and reviews led by the Country Management Team.

Business

• Collaborate with the Country Management Team and risk committees to align with global standards, enhancing efficiency and scalability.
• Partner with business heads to understand their needs and implement change programs that deliver strategic goals while maintaining robust controls, governance, and risk management.
• Maintain strict cost and investment discipline, prioritizing risk, control, people, projects, and change management.
• Work with Country COOs and CIOs to align project priorities and execution plans.
• Drive continuous improvements in productivity and cost efficiency.
• Ensure stable, secure, and reliable T&O performance that meets service requirements.
• Provide hands-on support to smaller-scale operations lacking local expertise.

Key Regional Initiatives

• Lead critical regional projects, such as acquisitions, divestitures, and regulatory efforts, including acting as a regulatory liaison where necessary.
• Collaborate with the Country CEO to drive initiatives that strengthen the business and improve efficiency.
• Oversee strategic investment reviews for the Country Management Team.

Risk, Control, and Governance

• Manage country governance, ensuring compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and governance standards for branches and legal entities.
• Establish frameworks to monitor and manage operational and technology risks, escalating high-priority risks to relevant Country Risk Committees.
• Support business and risk partners in addressing high and very high risks, escalating to senior management as needed.
• Proactively address thematic issues and operational challenges by connecting insights from audits, peer reviews, and other findings.
• Build strong connections between Cluster/Country Risk Committees and business risk forums to ensure issues are addressed effectively.
• Support the rollout of the Risk Management Framework in the country.
• Minimize operational losses and audit failures, working with business heads and COOs to resolve issues and maintain strong partnerships with second-line risk teams and Group Internal Audit.
• Chair relevant governance committees and provide support for subsidiaries, including board roles where applicable.
• Ensure product and client processes meet regulatory standards and are fit for purpose.
• Maintain a robust control environment across all businesses, restricting operations if infrastructure, processes, or capabilities fall short of risk tolerance, regulatory standards, or growth goals.
• Support the Country CEO in reviews and remediation plans for significant issues.
• Take full accountability for regulatory audits and inspections in the country and offshore service centers.
